William Matthew “Matt” Turley, 43 of rural Fostoria, Ohio died Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Fostoria Community Hospital. He was born September 20, 1972 in Fostoria, Ohio to James W. and Barbara (Stearns) Turley.
He is survived by his mother and step father John Slosser, brother Christopher Turley, niece Brooklyn Turley, help mate Lori Kaufman all of Fostoria, step sister Andra (Joe) Soria of Grand Ledge, MI step brother Eric (Eve) Slosser of Plain City, aunts and uncles Donna and Doug Siegle of Orlando, Dale and Anne Stearns of Manhattan, Kansas, Becky Stearns of Findlay, Lana Stearns of Bluffton, Virginia and Roger Orwick of Columbus and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents Bill & Ruth Turley, Clyde and Helen Stearns and two uncles Robert & David Stearns.
Matt graduated from Elmwood High School in 1991. He was active in FFA, band, sports and The Jack of all Trades 4-H Club. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1996 with a degree in Agricultural Mechanization and remained an avid Buckeye Fan.
He was the owner & operator of Precision Carbide in Bloomdale and a farmer.
He was a member of the Bloomdale Knights of Pythias and the North West Ohio Tractor Pullers Assoc. and he was the 2014 Puller of the Year. He attended Grace United Church of Christ in Fostoria.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria with the Reverend Paul Myers officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery near Bloomdale.
