At this hour, freezing rain has transitioned into all rain across Wood County and rain will continue through the day before transitioning over to snow after sun-down tonight. Overnight the storm system has strengthened (lowering pressure) which is indicated by the gusty winds already this morning.
The NWS Cleveland office issued an update to us early this morning and it continues to show a general 3”-4” total snow accumulation by Thursday night. Because of the tract of this storm being so critical and so close to NW Ohio, we will continue to monitor the storm’s path closely as any little change in the tract will change the forecast. For example, the heavy snow band is still forecasted for NW Indiana through Central Michigan where Winter Storm Warnings and even a Blizzard Warning is in place in NW Indiana.
Hillsdale and Lenewee Counties in Michigan just across the Ohio boarder to our northwest are already experiencing moderate snowfall this morning, so significant snow is not that far away from Wood County for this storm which is why we will be monitoring conditions closely. The following are updated details:
Rainfall today: 1” – 1.5” of rain
Total snowfall (by Thursday night): 3”-4” (but watching this closely for any change in the storm tract or the formation of unexpected stronger snow bands overnight)
Winds: Northeast 20-30 mph with gusts 35-45 mph today then switching to northwest this evening 25-35 mph with gusts to 45 mph
