Bowling Green, OH (January 20, 2015) – Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. (WCCOA) invites older adults in Wood County to submit their creative, original poems for our eighth annual poetry contest with the theme “Present Times.”
The poetry contest was designed to showcase the talents of older adults in Wood County through acknowledgement and publications of their poems.
The poems will be placed on our blog (woodcountycommitteeonaging.blogspot.com) for the world to see. Voting for the winning poem will take place at all seven senior center sites and via our blog site. Additional judges include Bowling Green State University writing professors and gerontology students. A video of the winning poem will be placed on our website and Facebook page.
The first prize winner will receive a $50 gift card while second prize is a $25 gift card.

Entry Rules
Who Can Participate: Open to Wood County residents age 50 and over.
Opening Date for Submission: Tuesday, January 6, 2015
Closing Date: Friday, March 20, 2015
Entries Must Be: In English, double spaced, in a 12 point Times New Roman font or hand written. Entries must be entirely your own work and never previously published, online or offline. Two entries per person and intent to submit will not be accepted. Poems are to be one page and based on the theme, “Present Times.” Submissions must have name, address, phone number, email and date of submission.

Judging: Entries will be judged by a BGSU Writing Professor and BGSU gerontology students.
The Prizes: 1st Place – $50 gift card, 2nd Place – $25 gift card.
All winners will be featured on our blog. All awards and poems will be presented at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at our annual banquet at the Wood County Senior Center, 305 N. Main St. Bowling Green. dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. Reservations are required by 2 p.m. on April 28, 2015. Donation for dinner is $4 for those 60 and over and $7 for those under 60.
