Have you ever wondered if the prescription and over-the-counter medications you take are interacting properly?
On Thursday, April 9, 2015 Wood County Hospital is hosting a free Brown Bag Day: Medication Safety Review program from 9:00 to 11 a.m. in the hospital meeting rooms.
Wood County Hospital pharmacist Todd Leopold, PharmD, will give a presentation about medication safety.
Community members are invited to bring in all their medications, over-the-counter and herbal products for review by pharmacy students from the University of Findlay. The students will go over how each medication is to be taken, how to store medications, screen for interactions between the medications and supplements, and answer any question.
Patients many times use multiple physicians and healthcare providers and multiple pharmacies, and therefore, no single medical provider may know every medication and supplement a patient uses. This program provides an opportunity for a pharmacist to review all herbal and dietary supplements, over-the-counter drugs and prescriptions. The pharmacists will them provide a complete written list for the patients to take home as a reference and tool to take to doctor’s appointments or into their pharmacy when needed.
Pre-registration is required before April 2, 2015. Register online at www.woodcountyhospital.org. or call (419) 354-8887.
