September 9, 2015, Bowling Green — Area residents are invited to take a positive step toward improving their health by participating in Wood County Hospital’s Community Wellness Day on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 6:00 to 11:00 a.m. The event will offer a wide variety of low cost and free health screenings such as a comprehensive fasting blood test and vascular screenings for early detection of vascular disease. In addition, various free screenings and educational information will provide participants with an overview of their general health.
Cost of the blood draw screening is $85 for the 10 hour fasting blood test, which includes 20 different lab tests such as blood glucose, cholesterol including HDL and LDL, triglycerides, electrolytes, kidney function, and a TSH thyroid. An optional PSA test for prostate cancer is available for an additional $20. A package of four vascular screening sites for early detection of vascular disease such as coronary artery disease, heart attack and stroke will be available for $100 or $35 per individual site..
Participation in the screenings is by appointment only. Appointments can be made beginning Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25. Call, 419-354-8679 to schedule.
