Farm Fun Saturdays

Saturday, April 18, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Carter Historic Farm

Come to the farm for history, nature, and fun! Take a tour of the house then join in on a walk in an old woodlot. Dress for the weather and wet walking.

 

Introductory Rope-Rappelling

Saturday, April 18; 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve

26940 Lime City Road, Perrysburg

Join our experienced staff for a day of rope-rappelling fun at our newest property, the Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve. A brief orientation session will cover equipment fitting and use, as well as safety procedures, then it’s off to rappel the cliffs ranging from 25 to 35 feet. All safety equipment, water, and instruction/guidance will be provided. Bring a sack lunch and snacks to enjoy while overlooking the beautiful quarry scenery. Wear sturdy footwear and “work clothes” as access to the cliff tops requires short hikes on uneven terrain. Participants must be 12 years of age or older. Pre-registration is required. Release waivers must be completed prior to participating. Cost: $15, FWCP $10.

Celebrate Earth Day by exploring Black Swamp Preserve, a natural gem located right in the heart of Bowling Green. Join us for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a nature walk and other fun activities.

Meet at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve

Visit Magee Marsh Wildlife Area to see which migrating birds have stopped in before travelling to their nesting grounds. The park’s minibus will be available for transport or you may follow in your own vehicle. Bring a lunch. Cost: $10, FWCP $5

International Weekend Cleanup

Saturday, April 25, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Otsego Park

20000 West River Road, Bowling Green

Join geocachers and earth-advocates around the world on this special CITO service weekend! Clean up while embarking on a modern treasure hunt using our GPS units to explore the park; OR you can register for the cleanup only. Dress to get dirty, be prepared for brief self-guided exploration off-trail with slightly rougher terrain, and expect to walk approximately 1 mile. A change of clothes and shoes is recommended. GPS units, drinking water, and hand-sanitizer will be provided.

 

Wine and Warblers

Friday, May 1, 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.

Meet at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve

29530 White Road, Perrysburg

A perfect pairing for a spring evening! Sample wines from local winery Majestic Oaks while enjoying hors d’oeuvres complementing the different varieties. A warbler trivia competition and presentation will occur alongside the tasting. Prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams! Cost includes wine samples and food; glasses of wine will be available for purchase. Cost: $20; FWCP $15.
