New Year Geocaching

W.W. Knight Nature Preserve

29530 White Road, Perrysburg

Attend a modern treasure hunt! Learn how to use provided GPS units to explore W.W. Knight Nature Preserve in a way you never have before! Dress for the outdoors and be prepared for a brief self-guided exploration off trail with potentially rougher terrain. Participants should expect to walk over 1 mile. Afterwards, hot beverages will be provided at the nature center. Leader: Craig Spicer

Feeder Birds

Come inside the nature center to warm up with a hot drink while checking out what’s happening at the feeders. Find out what birds are being seen and how they survive winter. This is an informal program, so visitors may stop by at any time. Leader: Jim Witter

Seed Cleaning Marathon

Saturday, January 24; 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Reuthinger Preserve

Come in when you can, leave when you have to, but be sure to stay awhile to help us finish up the seed cleaning season!   While you are here, try the several pots of chili and let us know which staff member makes the best.  No experience necessary.  Leader: Stewardship Department

Wild Winter Shrike

Saturday, January 24; 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Cricket Frog Cove

14810 Freyman Road, Cygnet

Explore Cricket Frog Cove with a naturalist to discover native animals and plants that survive the cold winter conditions; some even make our area their winter rendezvous, like the predatory Northern Shrike! Bring a pair of binoculars or a camera to capture the scenes yourself. Dress for prolonged outdoor exposure and expect to walk about 1 mile. Leader: Craig Spicer
