Into the Night Hike

Thursday, November 10; 6:00 – 7:30 pm

Experience nature after sunset for the waxing Beaver Moon, the Great Square of Pegasus, and a walk in the woods. Enjoy the sounds and aromas of nature in the dark guided by a naturalist. You’ll be surprised at how well you can see without a light.

Wild Skills: Fire and Shelter
Wednesday, November 16; 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Gain survival know-how to prepare yourself for when outdoor adventures turn sour, then put your new skills to the test! Participants learn multiple ways to start fires and create their own survival shelter out of natural materials. Be prepared for the weather. Wear sturdy footwear and tough clothing. Must be 8 years of age or older.

Farm Play: Hot Coals Dinner
Saturday, November 19; 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Join us in the farmhouse for good food and cheer as we settle into winter after another long year of hard work and play at the farm. We provide a meal of meat, vegetables and dessert cooked over fireplace coals. Participants are asked to bring one dish from a list provided upon registration (cooking over hot coals optional).

Informational Meeting

Interested in the Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist (OCVN) program? This unique hands-on natural resource education program is coupled with community-based volunteer service. Sessions take place inside and out at Wood County Park District properties and off-site locations. Class topics include interpretation, ecology, birds, native plants, mammals, insects, geology, and more. Co-sponsored by WCPD and Ohio State University Extension of Wood County, the OCVN program begins in April. Want to learn more before submitting your application? 2nd Annual Photo Contest Submission DEADLINE

Wednesday, November 30; 5:00 pm

Last day to submit your photos to the Friends of the Wood County Park District Photo Contest. Three Categories: Plant Life, Wildlife, and Landscapes. Submit Photos to photocontest @wcparks.org or by flash drive/CD dropped off to WCPD Headquarters “Attn: Photo Contest”. All photos must have names and be taken at a Wood County Park District property.
