Preschoolers in the Parks (PiPs) – River Critters

3 – 6 year-olds and their adult companion enjoy an activity, a story, and a short nature hike.

Kayak and Rappel Northwest Ohio  
Saturday, July 18; 8 am – 2:30 pm
Sawyer Quarry & Orleans Boat Launch 
Gear up for a day of outdoor adventure with introductory rappelling (closed-toe shoes required) and kayaking to Audubon Islands. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet. All participants must be 12 years of age or older. All minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Stargazing with the Toledo Astronomical Association

Ride with a Ranger 
Sunday, July 19; 4 – 5 pm
Black Swamp Preserve
1014 South Maple Street, Bowling Green
Enjoy a leisurely bike ride on the Slippery Elm Trail from Bowling Green to Portage and back. Meet in the new parking area off South Maple Street.

Paddle the Pond
Every Monday, through August 17
Monday, July 20 & 27; 4 – 7:30 pm
W.W. Knight Nature Preserve

This is a great program for beginners. Canoes, paddles, life preservers, and instructions are provided. Canoes are first-come, first-served.
Visitors arriving at 7 p.m. may paddle until 8 p.m.

Family Fishing Night 
Sunday, July 26; 6 – 8 pm
W.W. Knight Nature Preserve

Try to catch the big one! A ranger will be on-hand to help with loaner poles and worms if it’s your first time fishing. Children must have adult supervision; adults must be accompanied by a child to fish.
Full Moon Paddle 
Friday, July 31; 8:30 – 10:00 p.m.
W.W. Knight Nature Preserve

The pond comes alive when the full
moon shines and we paddle the pond by moonlight and flashlight. A short skills and safety session will precede the paddle. All canoe gear provided. All minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian

Categories: Wildlife | People in the Parks | Landscape | Plant Life
Ribbons and prizes awarded to People’s Choice (Facebook voting) and Judge’s Award.
Photos must be taken at a Wood County Park District property or event. Photos of people must have their permission. • No obvious use of Photoshop will be accepted • No embedded names/credit on photos • Maximum four photo submissions per participant. • DEADLINE to submit photos is October 31, 2015. • Photos must be submitted in an electronic format and at least 2 mb file size.
The Wood County Park District reserves the right to use submitted photos for any purpose.
