Mountain Bike Skills Camp: Manual and Drop-offs for Adults

Take your bike-ability to the next level with The Right Direction pro instructors. Lifting the front wheel is for more than just tricks; learn the proper way to stay riding through drops in the trail. Each technique will be broken down into manageable steps with challenges designed to build confidence and biking skill. A properly-fitting helmet and mountain bike are required. Ages 14+. Free Program.
 
 
 
Paddle the Pond

Enjoy a float on the pond! It’s perfect for a family outing, comfort-builder for beginners or relaxing exercise. Equipment and instruction are provided. Call ahead for special needs accommodations. Participants as young as 7 can paddle with a guardian. Ages 4 and up can ride in the middle of the canoe.

Birdhouse Gourd Decorating Ice Cream Social

Try bouldering (low-level rock climbing) at the Sawyer Quarry Native Preserve.
This natural #climbing area is a beautiful setting for this fun & exciting physical activity. One crash pad is good for groups of up to 5. Program fee: $5.

The Perseids Meteor Shower

Named after Perseus, the Greek mythological hero, this meteor shower is known for its fireballs. Bring a thick blanket or reclining folding chair and appropriate clothing for an evening under the stars. This shower is usually the best show of the year, the crescent moon will set early giving us a dark sky perfect for viewing the show. Cancelled if skies are cloudy. Free Program.

If you have enjoyed our other archery programs with the beginner bows and are ready to transfer your skills to the next level of equipment, a modern hunting bow, then join us and learn techniques needed to shoot a “sighted” bow. Self-Guided Activities
 
 
Ann B. Sawyer Interpretive Center
 
Visit the newly-opened Ann B. Sawyer Interpretive Center at the Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve. Free and open to the public from 8 am until 30 minutes past sunset, this interpretive space features a low-level indoor climbing wall, a children’s activity area, informational panels, and windows on wildlife viewing area.
