The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating several “scam” incidents. Victims are called by suspects identifying themselves as deputies.
The victims are advised they missed Jury duty and a warrant has been issued by the Court for their arrest. If they do not want to be arrested and have the arrest on their record they need to purchase money cards at area stores and give them the validation code numbers.
The Sheriff’s Office will never call residents and demand bond money or require odd forms of payment.
