YOUTHEATRE TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR FALL PRODUCTION

YOUTHEATRE TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR FALL PRODUCTION OF MARY POPPINS JR.

Findlay, Ohio, August 9, 2018—Marathon Center for the Performing Arts will be holding auditions for Youtheatre’s fall production of Mary Poppins Jr. later this month. Auditions are open to students in grades 6-12 including an on-stage cast of no more than 40 students in addition to positions on the production’s technical crew.

Auditions for the on-stage cast will begin promptly at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27 and Tuesday, Aug. 28 at Marathon Center for the Performing Arts located at 200 W. Main Cross Street in Findlay. Check-in will begin at 5:30 p.m. and auditions will run until 8 p.m. All participants are expected to stay for the entirety of the audition period.

Based on one of the most popular Disney movies of all time and the Broadway musical that played for over 2,500 performances and received multiple Olivier and Tony Awards nominations, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins is capturing hearts in a whole new way: as a practically perfect Broadway Junior musical.

The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.”

All students in grades 6-12 who wish to audition or apply for the technical crew must register and complete the required forms which can be found on the Youtheatre page of the MCPA’s website: MarathonCenterArts.org/Education/Youtheatre.

Students only need to attend one night of auditions. Those auditioning for the on-stage cast need to come prepared for movement. Youth interested in technical crew will only need to register online with the audition form.

Youtheatre’s production of Mary Poppins Jr. will be directed by Samantha Henry. The production staff includes: Zachary Thomas as music director, Brenda Hoyt-Brackman as choreographer, Isaac Steinhour as technical director and Debra Searls as costumer. The performances are slated for October 19-21 at Marathon Center for the Performing Arts, times still to be determined.
